It's very hard today to get the word out. Recent studies indicate that over 50% of all e-mail traffic worldwide is now unsolicited e-mail, or "spam".

With so much competition, it's hard to promote your product, service or event without being drowned out by the flood of offers for cheap generic viagra, penis extension pills or offers to launder US$35 million through your bank account.

Harder still is finding a legitimate list of e-mail addresses to send to. Many countries now insist that targets for e-mail advertising must opt in to the scheme before they can be targetted. This forces legitimate senders of unsolicited e-mails to add the untrue "you have been sent this e-mail because you previously signed up for an opt-in service" even though the e-mail address was actually harvested from a website or news group, as almost all unsolcited e-mail recipients are.

The problem is that no one who has had their e-mail address  harvested  from a website (meaning that a piece of software has simply searched the internet and pulled off any and all e-mail addresses from websites that it could) is actually a viable target. The chances of them wanting the product are virtually nil, and as they never asked to be targeted in the first place, in all likelyhood they are angry rather than happy at receiving the mail.

This in turn forces the hard working companies sending these e-mails to use fake e-mail addresses, setting up temporary Hotmail or Yahoo accounts rather than use their own real addresses, lest they receive a flood of complaints and hate mail. However Hotmail and Yahoo don't allow unsolicited e-mails to be sent through their accounts and so these honest, decent companies are forced to breach their Terms of Service just to get their message out safely.

There has to be a better way!
